Arton – Laurent Lecuelle

The astonishing exchange I propose with this industrial material generates subtle commentaries on our consumer society.

The traces, marks, and dents on the cardboard I select, all used, amplify the confrontation with reality and being. The fluting, oriented differently, combined with more or less flat surfaces, sets the light in motion. Thus, the viewer, by moving laterally, perceives the transformations of texture, rhythms, patterns, and reliefs.

Light is therefore an important component of my works, as a material in its own right.

Oppositions, combined extremes, reversals then appear and are brought into play... in short, all the multiple aspects of a paradoxical unity: balance and dynamism, movement and constant immobility, and the harmony of light and monochrome.
