Brec d’Utelle et Gorges de la Vésubie et du Var – Mont Vial – Mont Férion

These sites have a great wealth of flora and fauna, especially endemic to the Alpes-Maritimes.
Man plays an important role.

The sites " Brec d'Utelle " and " Gorges de la Vésubie et du Var - Mont Vial - Mont Férion ", present on 10 communes (Bonson, Coaraze, Duranus, La Tour Sur Tinée, Levens, Malaussene, Tourette-du-Château, Toudon, Revest-les-Roches, Utelle) are protected areas due to their richness in species and natural environments.

In total :
- 12 European natural habitats are present on these sites, including two priority ones: orchid sites and steppe paths)
- More than 80 species of heritage plants, including columbine and Ligurian gentian.
- Animal species of community interest, including the strinatii hydromani, 5 species of bats, 3 species of fish: barbel, blageon, chabbot, and birds of prey: the golden eagle, the circaetus, the peregrine falcon.
- A rich entomological home, more than 500 species of invertebrates including more than 27 heritage species (7 of the habitat directive)

The protected sites being above all shared spaces, the Natura 2000 approach emphasizes the consideration of all the aspirations of the stakeholders, whether they are ecological, economic, cultural or social.
