Arroccata sulla collina di Gairaut, questa cascata a strapiombo sotto uno chalet alpino è un posto affascinante in mezzo a una natura tutta da scoprire, a due passi dal centro di Nizza.
Built in the 19th century, it commemorates the arrival of water in Nice via the Vésubie canal. Nowadays it is an essential place for a walk where people love to come and recharge their batteries far from the bustle of the city. A haven of peace which is a pleasure to contemplate and is all the more impressive when you realise that everything is completely artificial.
Although the Pavilion, called " the Guard House" is not open, it is possible to go through its cave. Entirely man-made, it is made up of rocks, wood and stalactites, which are also artificial. But the show is not all about the waterfall. Just turn around to admire, facing it, a panoramic view looking over all of Nice and the sea. The Cascade de Gairaut, its cave, its pool and chalet have been registered as Historic Monuments since 2001.
