What better way to join in the universal spirit of the Olympic Games than with a concert featuring works by French, English and German composers side by side? And here, without competition, needless to say...
"Citius, altius, fortius" - faster, higher, stronger - was Pierre de Coubertin's motto for the modern Olympic Games. In the year when France is hosting them once again, it was important for us to be associated with this great sporting and human event. To mark the occasion, Pierre Ruscher is offering us the world premiere of his Citius Altius Fortius, whose name says enough about the link with the sporting event that awaits us. In addition to this world premiere, the concert also features one of the world's most envied violinists, Renaud Capuçon, in Mendelssohn's justly famous Violin Concerto. As for the Enigma Variations, what better way to pay tribute to the music of our friends across the Channel?
