Composed of a core of musicians playing period instruments, the Ensemble Baroque de Nice has quickly established itself, since its creation in 1982, as one of the leading French groups specializing in Baroque music.
Under the direction of Gilbert Bezzina, a pioneer of the Baroque violin revival, the Ensemble demonstrates a desire to restore a musicality based on a thorough knowledge of 17th and 18th century interpretation treatises. This desire has been accompanied by research and rediscovery of forgotten or little-known Baroque masterpieces from the instrumental and lyrical repertoire, widely acclaimed, as has its extensive discography, by critics and the public.
