Exhibition Sylvian The Fishman
Exhibition
From 08 to 15 June 2025
From 08/06 to 15/06/2025, daily.
The world-famous work of Sylvian The Fishman has only one motif: a fish seen in profile going to the left.
However, behind the bright colors, the raised bones and fins, and a prominent eye, lie materials recovered from the sea: wooden pallets, tarpaulin, canvas, pieces of plastic, and other debris.
For over twenty years, the artist has sought to raise public awareness about the state of the sea, marine pollution, and its effects on ocean flora and fauna.
In parallel with this event, an educational initiative will be conducted with elementary school students in Eze, inviting them to create a work and signage for the exhibition using objects recovered from the sea.
Born in 1963 in Nice, Sylvian Preziosa owes his nickname Sylvian The Fishman to the great American collector Debra Arman, Andy Warhol's role model and close acquaintance with American Pop Art artists, notably Keith Haring. His commitment to the oceans earned him the honor of having a float bearing his likeness at the Nice Carnival last February. He divides his time between the Côte d’Azur and Australia where he lives.
