A loop on a track enabling a visit to the secret hamlet of Mollières: this very long trek in the heart of the Mercantour National Park being out of bounds to motorised vehicles, mountain bikes are perfect.
Formerly part of the Comté de Nice, Mollières joined Italy in 1860, to return to France after the second world war (1947); in the 19th century, 600 inhabitants lived in self-sufficiency in this valley at the end of the world.Today, the hamlet is only occupied in the summer and just a few herds of cows and ewes recall the intense agricultural activity that once took place there. For the less fit, it is advised to only attempt the climb of the Col de Salèse (2 031 m) with a 5-speed bike.
