A geological curiosity is this natural cave dug into the limestone by rain erosion near the Auron station.
Walk in a cool and dark fir forest which can sometimes obstruct the path and require that you step over or go around it without difficulty.
Family walk accessible to all.
To get there: Elevation difference: +/- 200 m Duration: 3 hours (round trip) From the Auron tourist office (b.5), follow the GR5 to the Chastellarès plateau (b.9, 10,11). Go to the left of the Blainon chairlift and go down a wide track leading to the old funicular. In a hairpin (b.14), a skidding track begins which rises very moderately through the undergrowth. b14a, leave the track in favor of a narrow path where, further on, a single intersection marked with a yellow L on the ground will take you to the right to reach the Balme Obscure cave (1720m).
After a visit to the cave, easily accessible, return to Auron by the same route.
Hiking accessible to dogs. However, be careful of the wildlife that is very present in the Blainon forest!
