Discovered during archaeological excavations for the construction of tramway line 1, the crypt provides an insight into the history of the town and its fortifications.
With its 2000m², the archaeological crypt of Nice is the second in terms of surface area after that of the Louvre in Paris. It presents four distinct states of the fortification of Nice and the evolution of military architecture over time.
