The Pinatelle forest and its eponymous peak at 1751 m are closely linked to the village. The Télécabine de la Pinatelle is a ski lift that skiers, walkers, hikers and mountain bikers use for their leisure activities.
The wood from this forest, made up of Scots pine at the bottom and fir and spruce at the top, was used to build the frames of the village houses. Once used for haymaking, access to mountain pastures or forestry work, the hiking trails that run through it today provide access to the Lieuson plateau.
Starting at an altitude of 592 m, this lift takes ten minutes to reach a panoramic view of the entire Mont Ténibre massif and the neighbouring peaks. There is also a commanding view of the village and its architectural layout, the districts of Ublan, Anelle, Duminière, La Belloire and the Clapière sector.
During the winter season, from December to March, skiers can hire equipment, buy a ski pass and take the La Pinatelle gondola or the Lieuson chairlift up to the Demandols or Haute Plane areas.
During the summer season in July and August, the Pinatelle gondola and Lieuson chairlift make the summits accessible to pedestrians for easier walks: downhill or across to Auron resort, downhill to the village. The Auron mountain biking area offers mountain bikers the chance to hurtle down marked trails for all levels.
