Le Mensonge

Le Mensonge is a dance adaptation of the eponymous children's book by Catherine Grive and Frédérique Bertrand, which tells the delicate story of a little girl who lied one evening at the dinner table. Upon entering her room, she finds her lie in the form of a red circle. The next day when she wakes up, this circle is still there, insistent, indelible. At bedtime, it is still there. As the days go by, this red circle swells, multiplies, and invades her space, even making it difficult for her to breathe.

Through dance, mime, and circus, the performers embody with sensitivity and humor the torments and guilt associated with this deception. The show has been praised for its finesse and its ability to address profound themes with lightness and poetry.
