Exhibition of André Marzuk - Retrospective, opus 2
After the Museums of the Citedelle of Villefranche-sur-Mer in the spring, the International Center for Contemporary Art presents at the castle of Carros the continuation of "Panorama of a work", the retrospective in two parts devoted to the work of the visual artist André Marzuk, from 1968 until today. This opus 2 "Les yeux brûlants de couleurs" exposes at the CIAC the creative abundance of the work over fifty years of work. The exhibition brings together nearly 70 pieces - paintings, drawings, ceramics, installations - from the most iconic to the most recent, as well as several creations specially made for this retrospective.
Born in 1948, Marzuk lives and works in Nice. He studied at the Ecole Nationale des Arts Décoratifs de Nice and at the Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts de Paris. His work is part of a contemporary expression fed by poetry, music, philosophy and science. A reflection of several years engages him in an exploration of some ethical universals which found our humanity, a poetics of the intimate, a highlighting of the depths of the human Self. Certain that an ethics of art and of the artist must be inscribed in the heart of any artistic approach, Marzuk works on an art magnifying our human part.
