Musée de Préhistoire

Discover early humans, their way of life and their tools. The highlight of the visit is the reconstruction of one of the decorated walls of the Chauvet Cave.

The Museum of Prehistory bears witness to the rich prehistoric heritage of the municipality. It covers key themes from the Palaeolithic period, based on excavations carried out in Tourrette-Levens at La Baume Périgaud and La Grotte du Merle. Located on the first floor of the Maison des Remparts, the museum's eight rooms trace the great human adventure that began over 7 million years ago.
