Offenbach en folie

Operetta

27 July 2024

Saturday 27 July 2024 at 9 pm.

Operetta concert as part of the Les Nuits de la Villa festival.

This original show is an opportunity to (re)discover the work of Jacques Offenbach, a laughing and subversive composer, author of daring and cheerful music, who was considered the master of the operetta and the opera buffa. under the Second Empire. It is an evocation of the life and work of the famous musician, based on letters, scores and memories collected in an old trunk, forgotten for years before being discovered by one of the descendants of the composer, Tatiana Offenbach, who plays her own role in the story. Four singers, accompanied by a pianist, take turns on stage to restore all their brilliance to the famous tunes that conquered Europe in the second part of the 9th century: the sopranos Stéphanie Varnerin and Vanessa Fouillet, a tenor and the baritone Samuel Namotte. Their interpretations are preceded by interventions from the narrator of the story, who is none other than the musicologist André Peyrègne, who adds mischief to this homage paid to “Little Mozart of the Champs-Élysées”, author of “La vie parisienne », “The Grand Duchess of Gérolstein”, “La belle Hélène”, “Orphée aux enfers” or even the extremely famous “Tales of Hoffmann”.
