Saint-Dalmas Le Selvage

Near where the Tinée River takes its source, the village is huddled at the foot of a majestic cirque of towering mountains and vertiginous grey cliffs.

Strolling through the narrow paved streets offers a chance to admire the many sundials and dark schist façades in the village. Route de la Bonette, Europe’s highest road, runs through the territory of the commune. Mountain wildlife — chamois, ibex and marmots, etc. — can be seen on the often snow-capped peaks.

Sights: church (16th c); Sainte-Marguerite (15th c) chapel; ice cascades in winter.
