Mathias, a penniless and disillusioned New Yorker, goes to Paris to live in the apartment his father left him with the intention of selling it.
He is surprised to find Mathilde there, an old woman living with her daughter, Chloé, and learns that the property he has just inherited is a life annuity...
Mathilde, refusing to leave the premises, offers to accommodate Mathias, who is ready to do anything to get what is owed to him.
By revealing to him the secrets she keeps buried, she will upset the fragile balance of the situation.
