Outdoor exhibition “Nice and its twin cities on the UNESCO World Heritage List”.
2 February 2022
Exhibition in the context of the inscription of “Nice, winter resort town of the Riviera” on the World Heritage List
On 27 July 2021, Nice joined some of its twin cities, such as Rio de Janeiro, on the UNESCO World Heritage List. To celebrate its entry into the pantheon of humanity’s world heritage with its sister cities, the City of Nice invites you to discover the photographic exhibition “Nice and its twin cities on UNESCO’s World Heritage List”. This exhibition highlights Nice’s heritage assets and its complementarities with other listed sites.
Six months after this historic inscription, this exhibition launches a movement in favour of the implementation of exchanges of good practices on an international scale for the preservation, enhancement and transmission of the architectural and landscape heritage of Nice to future generations.
Twinning schemes
The aim of twinning is similar to that of UNESCO, namely to promote peace and security by strengthening ties between peoples through education, culture and respect. From 28 January to 28 March 2022, this exhibition is a place of convergence. It offers the opportunity to discover the exceptional and universal character of Nice “Riviera Winter Resort City” as well as nine of its twin cities.
From the natural landscapes of Rio and Hangzhou to the elegance of St. Petersburg, from the fascinating contrast between the old and new cities of Edinburgh and Sousse to the resplendent Thessaloniki and the picturesque island of Gulangyu, this exhibition for young and old offers a “world tour in 1 km2”. It is a real invitation to travel, in the heart of Nice…
