Nice, the Winter Resort Town of the Riviera, listed by UNESCO ☀️
From 1760 to 1939, winter tourism shaped the city of Nice, which welcomed up to 150,000 winter visitors at the end of the 19th century. Described as the ‘salon of Europe’, Nice welcomed crowned heads, aristocrats, intellectuals, artists and industrialists to its hotels, which were genuine living spaces. The diversity of the accommodation available at the time is still evident today: palaces, hotels in character buildings, guesthouses, and their architectural quality bears witness to their excellent preservation. With this listing, UNESCO is recognising the Outstanding Universal Value of Nice’s heritage.
