The Mont-Bastide hike from Eze village

… Unobstructed view of the « Eagle’s Nest »

From Eze-Village, I started my hike by crossing the bridge that took me to the beginning of the trail of Mont-Bastide.

Equipped with walking shoes, a bottle of water and a cap, I’m ready to climb the Mont-Bastide.

This mountain rises around 570m above sea level. A small forest trail sheltered from the sun, I started the climb and discovered the village of Eze from another angle with a breathtaking view of the Big Blue.

It takes about thirty minutes to get to Mont-Bastide where I took advantage of an exceptional panorama of the surroundings: the peninsula of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, La Turbie, Nice … Today the sky is clear, I can see Cannes!

But my walk is not over … To regain the seaside, I followed the indications of the marked path of « Caricart », not far from a runway paragliding and the esplanade of the Oppidum. It is a dirt and rocky path, which at the end of the day is shaded. This path is gently sloping with a beautiful view of the sea until the National Road that I crossed with caution to reach the final stage of my walk.

To conclude, I went to the « Chemin Savaric », marked by the Department, which led me directly to Eze seaside. This path descends quite intensely at first in the maquis ézasque then meanders between the properties to reach the beach.

My reward: a swim in clear water on the beach of Eze, a beautiful and still wild setting.

To start a holiday day or to finish it, the Mont-Bastide hike is a must! I highly recommend it!
