“Sled Dogs” snowskates – Isola 2000

What are “Sled Dogs”? The promise of skiing without skis, to be tested exclusively at Isola 2000!

We heard about this new activity offered at the Isola 2000 resort, which is always at the forefront of the new snow sports world.

So, intrigued and a little anxious, we went up to Isola 2000 with colleagues from the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolitan Convention and Visitors Bureau Office to try out this new and improbable glide!

White snow welcomed us and the conditions were incredible even before the Christmas holidays … extraordinary snow quality … more than 2 meters at the top of the slopes!

Isola 2000 lives up to its reputation as a perfectly snow-covered resort both very early and very late in the season.

We head towards the “SPORT 2000 – SNOW SHOP” (the only store to offer this equipment) to rent these famous Sled Dogs Snowskates… There is no turning back now.

Let’s put on the… shoes!

We head to the snow front with Lucas, our ESF instructor, for the first advice and the first sensations… It’s time to put on our boots and off we go! The beginnings are a bit perilous, but we quickly take our marks and let ourselves slide on this beautiful snowy slope!

The activity is easy, but requires a little muscle tone (and if possible some basic skiing or rollerblading skills in order to quickly adopt the right posture). I find the sensation of sliding identical to that of skiing, but a little more fun and original because it is really not common to ski without skis! However, it is much less restrictive to move around because the boots on our feet are relatively light. But be careful, it is impossible to walk outside the snow covered areas without risking damaging them (put your boots in a backpack as soon as you leave the slopes).

What about sticks? Not necessary to maintain your balance! So I have a real feeling of lightness … According to the instructor, this activity can be practiced on any slope, but it seems to me less risky to stick to green and blue slopes.

In summary

The verdict is unanimous : Sled Dog Snowskating is a fun activity to enjoy with your family ! I recommend it without any moderation!

It is also a good alternative for non-skiers. A sound plan to keep everyone happy when you go in a group, right?
