Noëmie Ksicova adapts the masterpiece by Swedish writer Stig Dagerman: a tense family drama and a thrilling closed session where the characters are captive to burning passions.
His theater advances with modesty into the territory of memory, loss and traces, in order to make the stage “a space of consolation and reparation”. Elliptical, it suggests more than it shows.
The Burnt Child is Bengt, 20 years old, locked in his grief following the brutal death of his mother. The grief is insurmountable for the young man and his father's new relationship with another woman throws him into a real descent into hell. Transforming his suffering into violence, Bengt burns and consumes, taking with him everyone around him.
