The Place Felix Poullan, where the fountain is located, becomes the property of the Carossini family after the decommissioning of the cemetery and was given free of charge to the municipality in 1836 by Baptiste Carossini then mayor of the city.
The fountain was originally located in the northwest corner of the square.
