Greed, murder, mystery, and conspiracy are the main ingredients of this tragicomedy by Tristan Bernard.
Florestine, the Countess's lady-in-waiting, has been placed in the household for six months by the notorious "Society of High Society Stranglers." She has spied day and night, minute by minute, on her mistress's habits. She has insidiously wormed her way into her confidence and, oh, the triumph of her perfidy, the time had come to commit her crime! Florestine confides to us: "It's strange, when you're on the verge of committing a crime... what a feverish impatience you feel! Every evening, it preys on my mind... I toss and turn in my bed and I say to myself: maybe tonight is the night I'll murder her? I could have easily done the job myself and wouldn't have needed an accomplice if it were only the Countess... But there's Benoît, the servant, an indestructible old man who swallows arsenic like powdered sugar. So I asked the Society of High Society Stranglers to provide me with a skilled operative: the Great Bibi."
