La Place Rossetti

Located in the heart of the old town, Place Rossetti is one of the most essential and picturesque squares in Nice, through its central location, its magnificent Cathedral and the famous ice-cream maker Fenocchio which delights passers-by.

Considered to be the tourist heart of Vieux Nice, Place Rossetti is one of the liveliest squares in the city. A real meeting place, it has been dominated by the Cathedral Sainte Réparate de Nice since the seventeenth century. A registered Historic Monument since 1906, the building gives this unique square all its splendour, where bar and restaurant terraces spread, sheltered by colourful fabrics.
But what makes this place one of the most popular for locals and especially for holidaymakers, is surely the iconic ice-cream maker, Fenocchio. For over 55 years, this is where gourmets have met to taste one of the original ice creams the house has to offer. In total, there are nearly 100 different flavours, as unique as they are enticing, on offer to passers-by. Among the most original, it would be easy to be tempted by a Pina Colada sorbet, a scoop of chewing-gum ice cream, a Grand Marnier one, or even the gingerbread flavoured one. Every year, Place Rossetti dresses in its Christmas colours and houses a giant Nativity scene featuring real people and animals.
