Beautiful hikes in Nice and along the coast

Would you like to go for a walk in the heart of the city?

Walk along the most beautiful coastal paths and succumb to the charm of Nice Côte d’Azur. Walk along the entire coast at your own pace and take the time to observe the incredible landscape around you. There are many possibilities for walking.

From Nice, walk up the lower corniche to the Citadelle of Villefranche-sur-Mer. Make your way up and then rest for a moment to regain your strength. From the top, escape for a moment and immerse yourself in the scenery. The view of the splendid harbour and its dozens of moored boats is breathtaking.

Go on an adventure in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, choose one of the three suggested paths to criss-cross the entire peninsula. A real immersion between sea and nature from which you can also contemplate the luxurious villas and emblematic hotels of a rare beauty. In Cap d’Ail, don’t miss an excursion along the historic customs path, whose impressive grey rock comes from an offshore volcano that is now extinct. A dreamlike landscape unfolds step by step until you reach the border with Monaco.

Head to Eze to climb the famous Nietzsche trail, named after the famous philosopher who was inspired by it. Once you have completed the route at the foot of the village, relax and take a moment to stroll through the picturesque streets. The setting is fascinating!

For the less adventurous, keep your feet in the water while enjoying the sunny shops and café terraces. Stroll along the Promenade du Bord de Mer in Cagnes-sur-Mer, the Promenade des Flots Bleus in Saint-Laurent-du-Var and of course the Promenade des Anglais in Nice.

Lou Camin Nissart, a walking tour around Nice

Staying in Nice while hiking is also possible. As well as climbing the Colline du Château, explore Lou Camin Nissart, a GR trail that surrounds the town, marked out by the Fédération Française de Randonnée des Alpes Maritimes. Put on your walking shoes and take a 42-kilometre walking loop that encircles Nissa La Bella. Access the most beautiful viewpoints with 1000 metres of difference in altitude. An unexpected spectacle that gives a whole new perception of the town.

And the route is a dream! Start your journey from Place Garibaldi towards the Port of Nice. Then go from hill to hill to admire, step by step, all the splendours of the city seen from above. First climb Mont Boron and then continue to Mont Alban, Col de Villefranche and Mont Vinaigrier. Cross the Paillon and climb to Mont Chauve, the highest in the city, passing by Gairaut, the Saint Michel area and the Pyramid of Falicon and its mysterious Ratapignata cave. Then descend through Saint Roman de Bellet, Canta Galet and Ventabrun to finish your trip on the iconic Promenade des Anglais.
