Le Cadran Solaire

Set on the Quai des Etats Unis, Nice's sun dial tells the time, but in addition to this it offers a unique panorama of the sea and the whole Baie des Anges.

Since its creation in 1981, Nice’s main sun dial has a prominent place on Quai Rauba Capeu, just at the foot of the Castle Hill. Most Nice people will certainly have tried it out at least once for fun. The principle? To become yourself the hands of this giant clock. To do so, you only have to take up position in the middle of the dial, on the spot intended for this purpose, and observe your own
shadow tell the time! With 300 days of sunshine a year on the Côte d'Azur, opportunities abound ... Once at the centre, you quickly realise that time is not the most interesting thing to look at! You have to look up and admire your surroundings, the beautiful landscape which emerges and offers a spectacular view of the entire Baie des Anges. And to make it even more memorable, now the giant #ILoveNice hashtag has been installed right next door. Enough to make a beautiful photo, from this location, of a magnificent sunset ...
