Every Tuesday for some time now, Marie-Pierre has been coming to look after her widowed father in the neighborhood where she grew up.
She spends the day with him, doing his housework and ironing. They chat a little, about everything, about nothing. About today and then about yesterday. About the past. About Chantal, the mother, who is now no more. About Jean-Pierre too. They chat and then they go out. They take their usual walk. The straight street, the Town Hall Square, and then the path along the canal.
But most of all, on Tuesdays, Marie-Pierre and her father go to Monoprix. They buy things for the week. Enough to feed their father until the following Tuesday. They both browse the aisles. Marie-Pierre carries the groceries in the plastic Monoprix basket. They have their little habits. Then they queue up and go to the checkout. We know them here. We look at them. We look at Marie-Pierre especially. Marie-Pierre is beautiful. We only see her. All eyes are on her when she goes shopping with her father on Tuesday mornings at Monoprix. Before, a long time ago, Marie-Pierre's name was Jean-Pierre.
