Cités immersives exhibition
Vikings: history comes to life in Nice ⚔️
From 6 February to 30 August 2026, “Cités immersives” opens a brand-new venue in Nice with an inaugural exhibition dedicated to the Viking world. Titled “Vikings: The Odyssey to the Ends of the World”, this immersive experience unfolds as a continuous journey, designed to be explored at your own pace.
As you step inside, the atmosphere shifts. Light and sound guide the way, and the visit slowly moves you away from the Promenade des Anglais and back through time. In Nice, Viking history is approached differently through images, textures and sensory impressions.
Walking in the footsteps of the Vikings
Spread across more than 1,000 m², the exhibition is divided into five distinct spaces, each with its own atmosphere: mist-filled ruins, seascapes, dreamlike rooms and more. Visitors move through the exhibition wearing an audio headset, available in French and English, following a clear and engaging narrative.
360° projections, immersive sets, interactive scenes and archaeological objects combine to explore Viking culture, their journeys and their lasting influence.
Designed to be easy to follow and accessible, the exhibition works just as well for families as it does for visits with friends or school groups. The experience balances historical insight with a sensory approach, encouraging curiosity and discovery throughout.
At the heart of the experience, an optional virtual reality game developed in partnership with The Viking Planet (museum in Oslo) allows visitors to step into the role of a Viking warrior. Spatial sound, cinematic storytelling and sensory effects add an extra layer of immersion, offered in addition to the main exhibition.
Good to know 💡
The main exhibition is included with the French Riviera Pass (virtual reality experience not included), with no prior booking required.
