Nice flavors at Villa Masséna

At Villa Masséna, Nice’s story also comes through its culinary heritage

Right now, the Masséna museum is hosting an exhibition that looks at how local traditions keep moving forward. “Nice, its past has a future”, on view until March 1st, 2026, takes you through the Nice’s memories the way you’d flip through a seasonal notebook : language, celebrations, everyday habits, recipes… everything that shapes the spirit of the area.

« Nice, son passé a de l’avenir »

Along the way, eight short videos produced by the Nice Côte d’Azur Tourist Bureau highlight classic dishes : le pan bagnat, les beignets de fleurs de courgettes, les petits farcis, la tourte de blettes, la socca, la trucha, la soupe au pistou, ou encore la daube et ses gnocchi.

All these recipes were filmed in restaurants certified “Cuisine Nissarde”, places that keep the tradition alive with a simple and sincere approach.

In every room, the videos mix with objects, sounds, and colors. You move from a winter carnival to a summer feast, from spring festivities to the calm of autumn. The exhibition feels like a living calendar, where sharing and togetherness are part of the experience.

Good to know 💡: a QR code along the route links to all the recipes on our website, so you can cook them at your own pace. The exhibition is a reminder that Niçoise culture isn’t something frozen in time, it’s a way of living, always evolving.
