Take a theatrical tour of Old Nice with Epok’Tour!
Epok’Tour is a theatrical tour of the Old Nice, where a tour guide recounts anecdotes ! I have tried various city tours in Nice, but this one is truly unique.
The guide arrived at the meeting point dressed i a period costume. He explained that he had slipped into the role of Jean-François Desmoret the “Executioner of Nice”, to unveil the secrets of the Old Nice in 1804 and the confessions of this renowned master of decapitation.
“I was instantly drawn in by the lighthearted method he used to tackle this unconventional subject”.
In an instant, I found myself immersed in the 19th century rural France. I discovered little-known parts of the old town through stories told by the “Executioner of Nice”. For an hour and a half, I took a break from the present. The tour was rich in moments from life in days gone by and evoked the customs and traditions of Nice at that time.
The tour ended with the executioner, Jean-François Desmoret, finishing his historical journey on Place Rossetti in frot of the Sainte-Reparate cathedral.
I enjoyed this unique guided tour, where I learned many interesting facts about the Old Nice. It was entertaining, enjoyable and the guide played his role as “executioner” to perfection!
