As a place to get together and relax, the people of the Côte d’Azur have always been keen to take advantage of green spaces. For good reason, from the coast to the high country, nature is king in Nice Côte d’Azur. Mountains, plains, rivers, beaches, ski resorts…
In Nice, nature can even be found in the city centre with the Promenade du Paillon or Lou Camin Nissart, the first GR (long-distance footpath) in the Alpes Maritimes, which leads its hikers from hill to hill, alternating grandiose views and places marked by history.
Nice Côte d’Azur and its inhabitants offer a spectacular range of zen activities for all tastes. Here are a few of them.
On the coastal area
A range of “wild” essential oils
On the coastal area, in the Cap d’Ail market, Les Sauvages offers a range of essential oils from the plants of the Nice hinterland. The distillations are made from local plants harvested by hand in the wild, in pure and certified organic areas.
They are the result of a traditional distillation process that promises quality and preservation of the plants’ properties. New workshops, accessible to all, offer the opportunity to learn how to use plants in infusions, essential oils, macerates or tinctures.
In the Mid Country
A soap factory that cares about its customers and the environment
Nestled in the heart of the old village of La Gaude, in the hinterland of Nice, Les Bulles d’Ysaé soap factory allows you to discover or rediscover the benefits of cold process soap.
Mom of 3 children, Maud was alerted by the composition of cosmetics and decided to create care products for her family. Today, with the help of a professional, she makes, cuts and packages by hand each soap sold in the shop. The ingredients are rigorously selected. The plant materials are, in fact, organically grown, the production is on a human scale and respectful of the environment.
In the High Land
A Yoga and Meditation weekend in the hinterland of Nice
The old farmhouse inn, La Valorette, is located at the end of a private road before the village of Tournefort, in the Tinée Valley, 45 minutes from Nice. Since 2003, Vedicare has been offering Ayurvedic courses and treatments here. To recharge your batteries, in the mild and pleasant climate of the Mediterranean, the course combining yoga and meditation is perfect. It includes accommodation, meals, yoga sessions for beginners and sound travel with Tibetan bowls! Note that massages are optional.
Disconnect in the forest
It is in an eco-location in the Gordolasque Valley, in Belvédère, that Cindy proposes, with Focus Forêt, sylvotherapy retreats. Allowing you to establish – or re-establish – a link with nature and to recharge your batteries by leaving everyday worries behind during the retreat, Cindy also offers unusual accommodation in the middle of nature: a large Inuit teepee. As for the carbon footprint of each visitor, it will be very low because everything is recycled. A permaculture vegetable garden is even available.
